How To Play Guitar: Barre Chords (NG07)

What's up future rock stars!!!
Hope your guitar learning journey is going well.
Are you ready to learn some barre chords?

Barre chords get their name from barring a bunch of strings on one fret with your index finger and creating a chord shape with your other three fingers. Last time we learned major and minor chords in the open position using your fingers to create certain shapes. Well these shapes can be moved around, you can play them everywhere simply by changing the root note (the lowest note of the chord).

You can move around any shape, but we are only going to look at the four most commonly used shapes, the E major shape, the E minor shape, the A major shape and the A minor shape. You have actually already learned two barre chords a few days ago when learning the major chords. The B and F major chord are both barre chords, the F major using the E major shape and the B major using the A major shape.

Here are the four shapes:

Learn this and you can play any major or minor chord anywhere on the fretboard as long as you know the notes on the E and A string.

Hope this helped you out, if it did, don't hesitate to subscribe.
Don't forget to listen and have fun!!
